A Hearing Test Could Clue You in to an Unknown Heart Problem

Unless you have a history of heart problems or a doctor has warned you about your heart, you might not worry about ever having an issue. Your doctor probably would only be concerned if there was a family history of a problem. It seems completely unrelated, but if you have been having trouble being able to hear sounds that are low in pitch, it could indicate a heart problem. Your doctor probably has never encouraged you to get a hearing test for your heart. It just does not make sense, but if you talked to a cardiologist it may make complete sense.

Your heart has large blood vessels and your ears have ones that are very small. If the small ones in your ears neglect to work correctly, the large ones in your heart could be next. Heart disease is not something to mess with. If you have been struggling to hear, then you really should go and get a free hearing test at a local clinic. There is really no harm in doing it. If it comes back fine, then you do not need to be concerned.

If it comes back that you are having an issue being able to hear, then you might want to talk to your doctor about the heart/ear connection. He may do an EKG and perhaps have you get an echocardiogram (ECG) done just to be safe.

There is no harm in taking precautions. Those two tests cost a great deal less than open-heart surgery or a heart cath. This is not something to neglect. Next time someone suggests a hearing test and you think to neglect it, realize that you may be neglecting your heart too.

You may believe that the reason you are not able to hear is because of shooting guns or using loud machinery. It very well could be. There is no harm, however in just checking things out with a hearing test and even with heart tests following. The scientists who come up with these connections are not just looking at one or two people. They are really looking at a big picture. That is something that is difficult for someone to do who does not have medical or science training.

Take the time today to consider a hearing test. Perhaps you have been putting it off for years, but now you are wondering if now is the time to do this and possibly prevent something worse than not being able to hear.
